Question of The Day

Hey MODsquad mom!  Today we are asking the question:  When you do start purity training with your daughter?  What resources have you found to help you in this journey?  Last week, Melissa shared a great post on this subject to get the conversation started.  Today, we thought we’d give you a chance to chime in!  You know the drill – add a link to your blog post or leave a comment below.  We are so blessed to have such a great community of moms to walk with as we raise our girls!  Thanks for participating today!

Inspired by Melissa’s post and Megan’s post from yesterday we are planning a trip with our oldest daughter in a few weeks. It will be the first time she has been alone with her daddy and I for a long time. It should be a great opportunity to start some conversations with her about modesty and purity. Thank you everyone for the encouragement and push to get the conversations started.

Hey everyone! I know I wrote the post that prompted this link up, but I added a link to another recent post I wrote on this topic that includes discussion of some other REALLY great resources for parents to watch WITH their kids (12 and up). It takes pressure off to know everything but opens the door for great conversation afterwards. Also, don’t forget to enter to win the Parents Matter: Raising Kids with Integrity DVD if you are interested and haven’t yet. Entry opportunity ends tomorrow night!

I wrote a post about protecting our little ones (both boys and girls)… just some resources that we’ve used. For my daughter, I love Veggie Tales’ new Sweatpea Beauty video… age appropriate for little girls and teaches about inner beauty and how important we are to God (I think one of the main reasons young ladies don’t stay pure is because they don’t realize just how special they are). I also like the Princess and the Kiss book as an intro to teaching our daughters to save themselves for their one true love.

This has definitely been my hardest job a parent so far….

We have had 2 babies born in the past week within our close circle of friends. My 9 year old has gathered enough info from our coded conversations to have lots of questions. Questions I was not prepared to answer! I sought advice from our youth pastor’s wife and a close friend with teen age girls and they both encouraged me to answer her questions in an age appropriate manner. My friend gave me the “God’s Design For Sex” series and my daughter and I read the first 2 together just today. We were a little uncomfortable at first, but it feels good knowing that we have a base to start future conversations from.
