This was a hard question for me. I hope that you all have great advice.

Next week link up answering our question on Purity.
Small town midwest wife to Chad and mom to 3 very busy girls. I spend my days helping early elementary kids with reading and math. We are often found running between ballet and basketball, but love to cuddle in as a family to watch movies, play games or read good books.

This is challenging as DD is a bit of a tomboy. I remind her to sit with her legs together & feet on the floor when wearing a dress/skirt. I also talk to her about why I don’t allow her to wear “skimpy” clothes. She is only 7, so I do her shopping; I want her to be able to make good choices before she makes her own clothing choices. Great question!
I wrote this article, which deals with a form of modesty, for PARENTLIFE: http://blogs.lifeway.com/blog/parentlife/2010/08/caution-check-all-labels-by-carrie-bevell-partridge.html
I never thought being a prude as am I would rub off on my daughter, but it has! I think that modeling modest dress while still trying to be trendy with accessories is rubbing off on my 8 year old. She brings clothes to me that she outgrows before I even realize the shorts are too short or the shirt is too small. She is learning to layer things, wear miss matched knee socks or throw on some fake pink glasses when she wants to make a fashion statement!
I love it Kat! And you are setting a great example that glorifies God!
Great post. So honest and raises great questions. It’s an important, IMPORTANT issue!
